Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan (Markle), Duchess of Sussex, on June 3. 2021.
The name “Lilibet” holds a special place in Prince Harry’s heart as it is the nickname for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, which her close family calls her. It was given to The Queen by her late father, King George IV, but in recent years, it was her late husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who had called her that.
The middle name, “Diana,” is more of a tribute to Prince Harry’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who had passed away in a car crash in August of 1997.
Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in interviews sharing their experience with the Royal family and the media, and their blatant racism and prejudice against Meghan Markle, who is of mixed race.
Prince Harry shared his struggles with knowing that Markle expressed feelings of suicide while living in Kensington Palace, a royal residence in England. Markle conveyed feelings of isolation and discrimination for being a person of color, as well as not having any royal ancestors, which before her, no one in the royal family has married someone who is not.
Prince Harry’s choice of leaving the royal family with his wife was a combination of Meghan Markle’s traumatizing experiences, as well as the correlation of her treatment with his mother, the late Princess Diana.
Princess Diana, before her passing, also struggled to live within the royal family, as she was only a teenager marrying Prince Charles, who was himself in love with another woman, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The Princess of Wales also suffered from the same isolation that Markle faced living in the royal family. Diana mainly suffered from eating disorders and depression while raising her two children, Prince William, and Prince Harry, while also knowing that her husband was in love with Camilla, whom he would frequently visit.
Prince Harry also suffered from alcohol abuse while living with the Royal Family, and he explained that the best thing for his family was to leave. He still maintains a relationship with many of his royal family members, however, and expresses his love for them. (NBC News)
His brother, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, was the first to honor his mother Diana, and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth, by naming his daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, Princess of Cambridge.
