This past Friday, The Outspoken Oppa posted a social media poll, asking whether or not they support California Governor Newsom. The poll displayed basic facts about the recall election and how the likely candidate to replace Newsom, should he be recalled, would be Larry Elder, an American conservative talk radio host.

The poll asked, “Should Newsom Be Recalled?” Of 120 participants, 39% said yes, and 61% said no.* Similarly, on the eve of the election, the FiveThirtyEight average polling found that 57.8% want to keep Newsom, while 41.5% want him recalled.

Interestingly, this September poll was almost an exact reversal to another poll the Outspoken Oppa conducted back in March 2021. The March poll found that, of 178 people, 64% wanted him recalled, and 36% wanted to keep him. Mason Pirkey, the former website’s head of view growth who oversaw trends in Outspoken Oppa polling, noted that the complete reversal was most likely due to Larry Elder becoming the frontrunner among Newsom’s opponents.

In the March article, I wrote that the recall election had greater bipartisan support, which was most likely why generally left-leaning a La Cañada Flintridge students supported the recall. Six months later, that support obviously decreased dramatically as some do not support Larry Elder’s policies on mainly COVID-19.

Today, voting will close at 8:00 PM PST.

The Outspoken Oppa will publish more articles later in the day about the recall election.

*The participants were California residents that generally reside in La Cañada Flintridge, which means the poll was more representative of La Cañada Flintridge than overall California. Due to its sample size and exclusive social media availability, this poll is not statistically significant.
