According to a study of 467 Scottish teens published in the Journal of Adolescence, using social media was associated with poor sleep quality, low self-esteem, and high levels of depression and anxiety among young people. The constant exposure to often unrealistic portrayals of others’ lives can lead to a distorted sense of self-worth. The pressure to conform to societal standards and gain acceptance on social media platforms increases stress, isolation, and apprehension.
College Admissions Anxiety
The quest for admission to prestigious colleges has become an intense race. The perception that success in life is dependent upon attending a well-known and prestigious institution has created a hyper-competitive atmosphere.
